Winter Services

Lots of newly fallen snow in Helmlsey, a picturesque scene but maybe not want you want to see if you need to be somewhere. Here's some information about what services you can expect from local authorities in Helmsley and the wider area.

Pavements.
In the centre of town or on main routes, e.g. to the school or surgery. North Yorkshire Council categorises these as Priority 1 routes, see the routes in purple on the map below, and NYC will grit and clear these pavements.

North Yorkshire Council also owns and manages Helmsley Market Place and the Cleveland Way Car Park.

Roads. Information from North Yorkshire Council on their Winter Services
For the purposes of winter maintenance we have split our road network into 3 "Priorities". These are:
Priority 1 - includes all principal roads and important B Class, C Class and unclassified routes as approved by Members.
Priority 2 - includes the remainder of B Class and appropriate C class and unclassified roads as approved by Members. Note not all remaining
C Class roads will be Priority 2.
Priority 3 - the remainder of the network including estate roads.
These are shown on the plan below as Priority 1 routes in blue, Priority 2 routes in purple and the Priority 3 network is uncoloured.
